FEU Technique

What is Sapphire Hair Transplant?

With the development of technology, we see that there have been several developments in hair transplantation techniques. The tools for hair transplantation have also been developed. The Fue technique has improved hair transplantation through the use of hair transplant instruments with sapphire tips.

Surgeons reduce the feeling of pain by giving anesthesia before the hair transplant. It offers a comfortable and painless hair transplant experience. In general, pain is not felt too much in hair transplant procedures.

It offers a modern and comfortable use. Thanks to sapphire hair transplantation, both the pain is removed and special options are used.

The natural results of the FUE method, one of the most modern hair transplant techniques widely used today, have taken this success a step further by using special instruments with sapphire tips during the transplant.

How is Sapphire Hair Transplant applied?

Sapphire hair transplant is used with the FUE technique, they are surgical instruments with sharp points. The hair roots are collected one by one. After the extraction phase of the grafts with the micromar/micromotor, the grafts are implanted in the root canal inscisions that the surgeon has made with sapphire.

In general, hair transplants can cause injuries and bleeding. Thanks to sapphire hair transplantation, this situation is minimized.

Difference between Sapphire FUE and Classic FUE in terms of opening microchannels

FUE, which is performed with tips made of genuine sapphire, a very valuable mineral, refers to the use of a special sapphire tip instead of a metal slit in the opening phase of hair transplantation. FUE with sapphire point is not a technique, but an innovation applied in the FUE method. It is designed to open even smaller micro-channels in the area where the hair follicles will be transplanted, minimizing the formation of scabs and speeding up the healing process.

In FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) with sapphire tip, the hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area under local anesthesia using microtips with a diameter of 0.6 - 0.7 - 0.8 mm by means of a micromotor. The collected hair must be transplanted into the channels opened in the FUE method.

These channels directly affect the angle, direction and density of the hair, which significantly affect the appearance of the hair. Therefore, opening the channels is the most important phase for the success of an operation. Microchannels can now be opened in the best way using these special sapphire points. Hair follicles are transplanted into these channels. Between 1.0 -1.3 - 1.5mm, the tiny channels opened with sharp, smooth and durable sapphire points are the size of the hair follicle, increasing the number of channels opened.

The reason is the natural angle and direction to be given to the hair. If one tries to transplant 65-70 grafts in the mentioned square centimeter area, it will be impossible to transplant these hairs with a natural angle and direction. The natural hair angle is 40-45 degrees. At the expense of density in such a transplant, the hair can be transplanted at very steep angles, creating the results that are called grass men among the people.

Advantages of FUE hair transplant with Sapphire hair transplant tip compared to metal slit:

Thanks to the smooth surface with antibacterial properties, physical qualities such as hardness, sharpness and durability, there is much less vibration when using a sapphire point while opening the channel. This minimizes both the trauma and the risk of tissue damage.

Compared to the metal slit, it offers the possibility to open the canal by injecting less subcutaneous fluid. Since less edema is seen after the application, it is more comfortable for the patients after the operation in all respects.

  • Due to the small size of the channels opened for transplantation, postoperative tissue healing is faster than with metal slits and, more importantly, there is a smooth connection to the skin.

  • Since the hair follicles are transplanted into the channels of their own size at the most natural angle, there is no chance of root disruption and change of angle settings.
